Level 3
Politics, A Level
Studying A Level Politics provides a unique opportunity to delve into the political beliefs that shape the modern world. By exploring different ideologies and their impact on societies, students gain a deeper understanding of the forces that drive political systems and policies.
In addition to gaining insight into political beliefs, A-level Politics also develops critical analytical and evaluative skills. Students learn to critically assess political events, policies, and debates, honing their ability to analyse information, evaluate arguments, and form evidence-based opinions. This skill set is highly valuable in today's world, where the ability to think critically and make informed judgments is crucial for active citizenship and participation in democratic processes.

WHAT DOES THIS COURSE INVOLVE
This programme will increase your awareness of political processes and give you an insight into the institutions that make our country, and the rest of the world, work. You will start by studying the UK’s political system, eventually moving on to the issues surrounding politics in the US.
This will develop your understanding of the key political issues in both systems. You will also study key political ideologies which have formed the basis of political thought over the past few centuries. It is essential that you keep up to date with current affairs and get involved in lively discussions in class. You will also be given the opportunity to visit the Houses of Parliament, speak to key political figures and engage in work experience within the local political scene.
