Jobs in accounting are extremely diverse and deliver exciting career opportunities, and studying an AAT accounting qualification will ensure you have the skills and experience that employers need. Some of our accounting qualifications offer a route into becoming an AAT professional member, and are a stepping stone toward university, chartered accountancy or being your own boss. Developed from the Level 3 Diploma in Accounting, enabling students to maximise opportunities in their current or new employment.
By studying for this qualification, students will acquire professional accountancy and finance skills that will be useful throughout their careers, including drafting financial statements for limited companies, having the knowledge and skills to use complex management accounting techniques, the ability to analyse accounting systems and their associated controls, having knowledge and skills in specialist accountancy and finance subjects.

What will I learn?
The Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting covers high-level accounting and finance topics and tasks. Students will look at and become comfortable with a wide range of financial management skills and applications and will gain competencies in drafting financial statements for limited companies, recommending accounting systems strategies and constructing and presenting complex management accounting reports. Students will also learn about specialist areas such as credit and debit management and cash and financial management.
This qualification comprises three mandatory units and two specialist units. The mandatory units are:

How will I learn?
Blended learning – Study Method – Online and On Campus.
We have partnered with Mindful Education to deliver this course through our flexible Online and On Campus model.
Online, you will study award-winning video lessons, which are available on demand, and can be viewed from your phone, tablet or computer – meaning you can choose how, when and where you want to study
On campus, you benefit from regular classes with a college tutor – without having to commit to attending multiple evenings each week. Your tutor will review what you have learnt during your online lessons and will be on hand to provide guidance on progress and assessment.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed via external examinations.
Entry Requirements
Learners should have a desire to progress in a career within accountancy and finance and due to the complex nature of many of the topics, it is recommended that students should have a good standard of English and Maths before starting the course. You will need a merit or Distinction at AAT level 3 AQ2022, or equivalent bookkeeping qualification.
Additional Costs:
You will need to become a member of the AAT at the start of the course and take out professional membership with them to be a studying member. This can be done online directly with the AAT and will be an additional cost to the course fees. The cost of this is approx. £244.
Progression
Progression On successful completion of this course, you can progress to higher levels of the AAT Accounting Qualifications (Level 3 and then on to Level 4). Under the Free Courses for Jobs initiative, you might be eligible for a fully funded Level 3 course. Alternatively, you can apply for an advanced learner loan to cover the cost of your Level 3 study.
