Healthcare Support Worker, Apprenticeship
This apprenticeship programme will help you develop the skills and knowledge required to provide vital support and care to patients in various healthcare settings. You will gain practical experience by assisting with daily activities, monitoring patients’ health and well-being, and providing emotional support. With a focus on maintaining high standards of care and adhering to ethical principles, you will also learn about safeguarding and the importance of communication and teamwork. On completion of the Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship, you will be well-equipped for a fulfilling career, providing compassionate and vital support to those in need of care.
Learners on this apprenticeship will be employed in Health or Social Care by a regional industry employer. Upon completion of this apprenticeship, you will be able to demonstrate a range of excellent skills, knowledge, and behaviours in your role as a healthcare support worker. You will be equipped to work as part of a team providing high-quality and compassionate care, carry out well-defined routine clinical duties and prepare individuals for healthcare activities.
You will be able to work effectively as part of a team. You will always act within the limits of your competence, knowing who to ask for help and support if you are not sure. You will work within agreed ways of working, following the relevant standards, policies and protocols used in your workplace including the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers and Adult Social Care Workers in England. During the first part of this apprenticeship, you will be supported to achieve the Care Certificate which forms part of your induction and covers the fundamental skills needed to provide quality care.
ASSESSMENT METHOD
To achieve this apprenticeship you, along with your employer and assessor, will agree when you are ready and competent to undertake your independent end-point assessment, which will assess the skills, knowledge and behaviours required for this role.
FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES
Upon completion, you may choose to progress to a higher-level apprenticeship such as the Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker. This would enable you to further your professional career development and potentially work toward securing a senior healthcare assistant role. ## ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
There are no formal qualifications required to enrol onto this apprenticeship. However, you will be assessed to ensure that you can achieve English and maths functional skills to a minimum of Level 1. You must also sit the Level 2 English and maths assessment prior to the completion of your apprenticeship. To be an apprentice, you will need to find a suitable employer.
