LEARNING SUPPORT

Weston College students receive an outstanding level of Learning Support. Our innovative and unique Specialist Support Model ensures staff have the specialist skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality, personalised support programmes that effectively meet the needs of learners with LDD.

Once you become a student at Weston College, your goals and aspirations become ours and we will give you all the help and support you need to achieve them. We provide support to 1,000s of students every year across all our campuses.

Our innovative and unique specialist support model ensures staff have the specialist skills and knowledge to deliver high quality personalised support programmes.

We have a dedicated, highly qualified and experienced support team comprising of: Support Workers, Specialist Support Instructors, Specialist Tutors, Speech and Language Therapists, Advanced Practitioners, Diagnostic Assessors and Health Care Assistants. Our staff work collaboratively with cross-college teams in efficiently assessing a student’s needs as well as organising and implementing a wide range of support programmes, each tailored to their individual requirements.

We offer support in a wide range of specialist areas including:
  • Assistive Technology
  • Autism Spectrum
  • Behaviour 4 Learning (EBD/ADHD/ADD)
  • Deaf and/or Hard of Hearing
  • Support for students with Mental Health difficulties
  • Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD)
  • Speech and Language Therapy
  • Support for students on degree programmes eligible to claim DSA
  • Visual Impairment.

This high level of specialism is very unusual for a general further education college. This has been recognised through our involvement in the Learning and Skills Improvement Service projects, local and national initiatives, projects with the Department for Education and from feedback in the Ofsted Survey 2015, which recognised this provision as ‘outstanding’.
