Based at Loxton Campus, Loxton Road, the Sixth Form is a bespoke building designed to feel more like a university, preparing you for future study. The facilities include:

<p>Starting this year our A Level learners have had the chance to be a part of our Sixth Form Career Excellence Hub. The hub aims to get learners closer to the world of work by providing useful and high-quality work experience. This work experience will give our students vital skills for the world of work such as punctuality, reliability, and working as part of a team.</p>
<p>Our learners will gain significant industry experience from the Sixth Form Career Excellence Hubs. From studying A Levels there is a huge range of industries for learners to go into, including science labs, fashion and art – among many others! This means that Weston College works with a wide range of employers who are able to provide a diverse range of opportunities that students can be a part of. Learners will be able to transfer the skills they have learned to not only a workplace, but also to their university courses as many of these skills can be applied to both.</p>
<p>The Sixth Form has its own dedicated building at our state-of-the-art Loxton Campus with classrooms, communal areas and access to a great library. Our staff often have experience within industry allowing them to pass on this knowledge to students.</p>
<p>The employers who we work with on our Sixth Form Career Excellence Hubs love them! Emma Cox from Thatchers Cider, said: “Partnering with Weston College ensures that together we can bridge the gap between education and employment to provide the best outcomes and opportunities for students.</p>
<p>For us this is about bringing future talent into the business, working with the college allows us to work with students so that they have both the knowledge and the skills to make informed decisions about their future and choices.”</p>

<p>Student's from the Criminology course at <a href="https://www.weston.ac.uk/what-can-i-study/courses-16-18-year-olds/level… College Sixth Form</a> visited <a href="https://www.sheptonmalletprison.com/">Shepton Mallet Prison</a> to further develop their understanding of the criminal justice system.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.weston.ac.uk/what-can-i-study/courses-16-18-year-olds/level… 3 Criminology BTEC Diploma</a> (equivalent to one A Level) is studied alongside two other A Level subjects and includes elements of psychology, law and sociology.</p>
<p>The programme leads to the development of knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice system, awareness of the cause and effects of different types of crime. You will also examine theories that explain the behaviours and reasons why people commit crime.</p>
<p>Taking place just before the Christmas break, the prison visit provided the second year students with a tour of the prison itself accompanied by a former prison officer, they also experienced a lock in the cells and an extensive question and answer session with the prison staff.</p>
<p>Trips such as these are one of the career-boosting benefits that stem from the college’s newly formed <a href="https://www.weston.ac.uk/sites/default/files/2021-10/84501_Weston%20Col… Form Career Excellence Hub</a>. These innovative subject specific hubs allow for students at Weston College to have access to exclusive opportunities. Endorsed by employers from within the industry, this enables for better integration with the sector to make sure class content is relative and opens doors for learners so they leave college with more than just a qualification.</p>

Learners are taught by industry professionals, and are encouraged to find their voice, express their personality in a multitude of art forms and blossom beyond their expectations. </p>
<p lang="EN-GB" paraeid="{2feb5a93-74e2-4dca-a39e-257a892f7bea}{196}" paraid="796150555" xml:lang="EN-GB">As a student on our <a href="https://www.weston.ac.uk/what-can-i-study/courses-16-18-year-olds/art-a…; rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Level 3 UAL Extended Diploma in Fashion and Textiles</a> course learners are given the chance to explore fashion and develop their understanding of fashion by experiencing varied disciplines across fashion design, production, digital media, communication, and fashion business. The course offers the exciting opportunity for our learners to embrace textile art, textile design and elements of fashion looking at the design industry from an artist’s perspective. It introduces our learners to the contemporary approach of the industry and encourage them to flourish as potential textile designers. </p>
